Research of the Department Marine Physics and Sensors
Based on a long standing expertise in marine monitoring, we apply a broad portfolio of state-of the-art technologies and develop new approaches for marine monitoring with optical sensors, sensor systems and platforms. Focus is here on bio-optical techniques and in-situ imaging for the detection of substances and organisms in the water and on the water surface. This includes the rapid analysis of minute plankton organisms and harmful algal blooms, as well as harmful events, including oil spills, gas- or oil leakages, to support protection and the sustainable exploitation of the sea.
